HCCT ANNOUNCES ITS SUMMER THEATRE PROGRAMS FOR 2013
This year for the first time HCCT will be offering two two-week sessions of the summer theatre program to be directed by Jenny Lavery.
Session 1 is scheduled for June 3 to June 14. The preferred ages are 10-18. The curriculum includes intensive work in acting, speaking and singing, and dance.
Session 2 is scheduled for July 8 to July 19. The preferred ages are 5-9. The curriculum is presented through creative play, games and other high energy activities. Subjects include an exploration of children’s literature, development of voice and dance skills, acting exercises, and creating stories and characters.
All classes are scheduled from 1:00 to 4:30 Monday through Friday. Fees are $155 per student. For a schedule and more information, please contact the theatre’s main office at (830) 693-2474.
Jenny Lavery earned her BFA in directing and acting from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and received a Masters in Education in Boston, where she specialized in theatre, elementary and special education. Jenny lives in Austin and has been teaching in public schools. She has taught classes on storytelling, auditioning, scene study, and character study. She has developed and taught numerous summer theatre camps and after-school programs around the country—and even in Brazil.
